We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Director of Cost Engineering to lead the global cost engineering strategy for electrical and electro-mechanical components, including cable and wire harnesses, motors, transformers, sensors, and other electrical categories. This leadership role requires extensive expertise in cost engineering across multiple industry segments, such as automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, consumer electronics, and power distribution. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical manufacturing processes, materials, and cost drivers while demonstrating strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive cost optimization and supplier negotiations.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cost engineering strategy for electrical and electro-mechanical components across diverse industries.
  • Lead a global team of cost engineers, providing mentorship and technical direction ensuring delivery of accurate, detailed costing analyses and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead client engagements for accurate and timely delivery of client initiatives and programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product development/engineering, and lead client engagements.

Costing and Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain cost models for key electrical and electro-mechanical categories, including:
    • Cable & Wire Harnesses – Material, assembly, connector pricing, and automated vs. manual processing costs.
    • Motors & Transformers – Cost breakdown of raw materials (copper, aluminum, laminations), manufacturing, winding processes, and assembly.
    • Sensors – Cost modeling for pressure sensors, proximity sensors, thermocouples, and other electromechanical products.
    • Power Distribution Components – Including contactors, relays, and switchgear.
  • Analyze regional cost variations, supply chain constraints, and emerging technologies affecting cost trends.
  • Identify key cost drivers and provide actionable insights for cost reduction through VA/VE, alternate manufacturing processes and material selection, and process improvements.

Process Improvement:

  • Implement cost engineering best practices across different electro-mechanical categories to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost transparency.
  • Champion accuracy, automation, and continuous improvement in True ValueHub solution.

Industry Collaboration:

  • Monitor industry trends and technological advancements to identify opportunities for solution enhancements and efficiency.
  • Apply cost engineering expertise across various industry segments:
    • Automotive & EV – Cost structures for battery cables, high-voltage connectors, motors, and inverters.
    • Industrial Equipment & Automation – Motors, actuators, sensors, PLC wiring, and robotics components.
    • Consumer Electronics and Appliance– Flex circuits, miniature transformers, and low-power PCB components.
    • Aerospace & Defense – High-reliability components, shielding requirements, and military-grade wire harnesses.
Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 10–15+ years of experience in cost engineering for electrical and electromechanical components across multiple industries.
  • Proven expertise in wire harness manufacturing, motor assembly, and transformer winding.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience managing cost engineering teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of electrical materials (copper, aluminum, ferrite cores, connectors, insulation).
  • Expertise in electrical component manufacturing processes, including wire crimping, soldering, etc.
  • Familiarity with global industry standards (UL, IPC, MIL-SPEC, IEC, ISO, NEMA).

Leadership Skills: Strong ability to inspire, guide, and develop teams.

Analytical Skills: Exceptional problem-solving and data-driven decision-making abilities.

Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels.
